Roman Jakobson ,s  theory of linguistic functions is one of the most significant theories in modern communication. Jakobson, a pioneer in this filed, devoted special attention to linguistic issues in poetry. He categorized the linguistic structure and the relationship between language and people into six elements and six linguistic function, including emotive conative, referential, poetic, metalingua l,and phatic funcation. Modern novels which are composed of dialogue and narrative, are a subject of  interest for reserchers and crttics. This study aims to explore the language structure and fundamental function from Jakobson ,s communicative model in Rousha Dakhaz s novel"Remnants". This rssearch adopts a descriptive- analytical approach gronded in American Comprative Literature through which we examine the novel and observe the precise use of expressions by the author. In this study, we realized that cultural, political, and social references in the novel   "Remnants" take precedence due to the transformations and change dominating in novel "Remnants" occurring during wartime and political shifts. Regarding the referential function, the author uses first-person singular to express the emotion   and biographies of the charaters. For the emotive funcatin the use of second - person pronouns imperative and prohibitive moods and vocative and interrogative pronouns are employed to engage the audience. It can be noted that prohibitive mood and vocative are used more extensively than the imperative mood. However, the poetic and melingual functions are utilized least in this novel because of the text is on thought and the analysis of reality.
