إنّ تقديم التاريخ للأطفال في قالب قصصي بدلاً عن تقريره المباشر الجاف أمر في غاية الأهمية؛ لأنّ في القصة من الأدوات السحرية، -خاصة في هندسة الشخصية، وهي تکوین فني للشخصیات الروائیة،- ما يجذب انتباه المتلقّي ويجعلها أداة تربوية مناسبة لبيان التاريخ لهم. فقام عبدالتواب يوسف في مجموعته القصصية «حياة محمّد (ص) في عشرين قصة»، باستخدام الفن القصصي لتعليم التاريخ الاسلامي للأطفال، وذلك عبر توظيف الأشياء والحيوانات في تصميم الشخصيات القصصية وهندستها؛ فإنّ هذه المجموعة القصصية رواية تاريخية عن حياة رسول الله (ص): تحکي أحداثاً واقعيةً مستمدة بالأبنية الفنية، مرکزةً علی هندسة الشخصيات بغية الفهم البسيط. والراوي في هذه القصص، حیوان أو جماد أضفی عليهما الکاتبُ الحياةَ في نزعة احيائية مقصودة ليُنزلهما منزلة البشر والكائن الحي، کشخصية روائية تروي أحداث القصة من خلال مشاهداتها. يهدف هذا البحث بالاعتماد علی المنهج الوصفي_التحليلي إلی معالجة خمس قصص في هذه المجموعة القصصیة ورصد کیفیة توظيف الشخصیات؛ لتسهیل معرفة التاریخ وتقدیمه بشکل میسر للأطفال. إنّ هندسة الشخصیات القصصية في هذه المجموعة تنقسم إلی الشخصیة الإنسانیة المقتبسة من تاریخ الإسلام وباسمها المضبوط في التاریخ لتؤدي دور الرصد التسجيلي للحدث التاريخي؛ أو الشخصیة التخیلیة التي تؤدي دور الراوي الشاهد فتحکی الروایة کما حدث، وقد اختارهما الکاتب لیجذب انتباه الأطفال ویسهل لهم فهم التاریخ بتمازج الواقع بالخارق المتخيل، خاصة وإنّ بین تلك الحوادث التاریخیة وهندسة هاتین الشخصین صلة وثیقة لتأدية الوظيفة الروائية التي عهدت اليهما.
