يعدّ تحليل الخطاب النقدي من الآليات اللغوية الحديثة التي تبحث عن العلاقات الكامنة بين اللغة والأیديولوجيا للمجتمع. والنتيجة التي تترتب على هذا البحث هي كشف الغطاء عن القيم الخلقية والأیديولوجة التي تنطوي ضمن الخطاب النقدي. هذه القالة ترمي إلى دراسة رواية "احدب بغداد" للكاتب العراقي المعاصر رياض القاضي اعتماداً على المنهج الوصفي-التحلیلي وعلی أساس آلية تحليل الخطاب النقدي بمستوياته الوصفية والتفسيرية والبيانية وعلى ضوء نظرية "نورمان فيركلاف" لتحليل الخطاب؛ النظرية التي تبتني علی أنّ الخطاب النقدي یستخدم كاداة لرصد و تحليل التغيرات الاجتماعية والثقافية إلى جانب أدوات أخرى . وقد برع الكاتب في إعطاء صورة واضحة المعالم عن المجتمع العراقي بتوظيفه آلیات السرد الناجحة واللغة السهلة والبعيدة عن الغموض والتعقيد والصور الفنية المؤثرة . ومن أهمّ النتائج التي حققتها دراستنا للرواية عبر آلیات الخطاب النقدي هو أنّ خطاب السلطة المتمثلة في الاحتلال والاستبداد فرض هيمنته وأيديولوجيته على المجتمع العراقي الذي يرزح تحت وطاة الاحتلال الأميركي وويلات الاستبداد، ما أدى إلى اضطراب القيم والثوابت وتفشي الفساد السياسي والاجتماعي والأخلاقي وانتشار الاختلاس والسرقة والاختطاف والاغتيال والقتل والتهريب والتمييز والظلم والخيانة والتفكك الأسري و... في ربوع المجتمع.
